Our Vision

  • Bring glory to our God by obeying the biblical mandate to care for the fatherless
  • Bring awareness to the Church of the profound need for Christian Orphan and Foster care for the fatherless and the Biblical mandate to care for the same
  • Empower the Church to raise up families to care for and/or become effective foster and adoptive homes
  • Insure that every orphan in Louisville has the opportunity to be cared for in a safe and loving Christian home or environment
  • Provide pre- and post-foster and adoptive support for families that results in continued effectiveness and growth of the mission

Our Approach

It is our goal to reach the orphan in three primary areas:

  1. Local Adoption and Foster Care Families
  2. Local Foster Care Assistance
  3. International Adoption and Foster Care

We have 4 primary means for reaching the orphan:

  1. Work to educate church leadership of the plight of the 150 million orphans worldwide by encouraging them to launch orphan ministries in their church.
  2. Assist in the launch of the ministry through organizing ‘Adoption Seminars’ on their campus.
  3. Connect them with existing Christian organizations working in the three primary areas.
  4. Provide a resource guide to inform the church and their members of opportunities and partnerships that are available.

Foster Care

LOCI is working with the local Foster Care System in 4 primary areas:

  1. We are recruiting and training new foster parents. Please call Jennifer DeVries at 502.649.4818 for more information.
  2. We are providing recreational and respite events for foster children and their families each quarter.
  3. We have developed a mentorship program in partnership with Youth Opportunities Unlimited and the Jefferson County Foster Care Program to provide internships for youth transitioning from foster care into independent living.
  4. We provide a basic supply pack called ‘Dignity Bags’ for children who have been removed from their home and placed into foster care.

Orphan Care

We have worked with many experienced orphan care organizations that desire to partner with churches to reach at-risk children all over the world. The LOCI website’s Resource tab provides churches and individuals an overview of these organizations and how they might get connected in serving.

Adoption

LOCI provides 4 primary means for advocating for adoption:

  1. We are partnered with churches in providing Adoption Seminars which offers those interested in adoption information on a wide range of topics. In addition, it provides a forum for most adoption related questions to be addressed.
  2. We have a mentorship program that provides for a family that has already navigated the adoption experience to come alongside a family who is setting out on the adoption journey.
  3. We have partnered with LifeSong for Orphans to provide matching grants for those who qualify.
  4. We connect you with organizations that can help you through your adoption journey and beyond.
